Re:  Business and Rental Registration Update

The City of New Buffalo has recently enacted two (2) ordinances for business registration and long-term rental registration in 2021.  The Business Registration Ordinance was passed on July 19, 2021 and became effective August 8, 2021.  The Rental Registration Ordinance was passed on October 18, 2021 and became effective on November 7, 2021.  The ordinances are available for review on the city’s website www.cityofnewbuffalomi.gov.

All policies regarding short-term rental ordinance #248 are in full effect and enforceable.

Information regarding the business registrations will be available on the city’s website beginning December 22, 2021, and business owners will have until January 3, 2022 to register with the City of New Buffalo.

Initially owners of rental properties were being asked to have their properties registered by January 3, 2022 as well.  Registration of rental properties will be required by March 1, 2022.  Rental registration information will be available on the city’s website beginning January 24, 2022 (the initial certificate will be valid through June 30, 2023).
