Paid Per Call Firefighter
The City of New Buffalo Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of paid-on-call firefighter.
This position requires responding to fires and other types of emergency incidents. The firefighter must be able to perform the functions required at emergency incidents, including combating and extinguishing fires.
The position involves extensive training in the operation of apparatus, tools, and equipment and the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions, which may require strenuous exertion under such conditions as heat, smoke, and cramped surroundings.
Successful candidates must be seeking a fast paced, growing department, and have the desire to deliver state of the art fire-rescue services to the community. Additionally, they must possess characteristics of an outstanding fire service professional, including honesty, integrity, dedication, caring, and believe in teamwork. No experience is necessary and the ideal candidate must live within 5-7 miles of the city limits. Paid training for Michigan Firefighter I & II is provided upon hiring as well as additional paid training opportunities.
