The City Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer of the City and oversees the day-to-day functions and operations of the City. In accordance with the City Charter and based on the direction of the Council, responsibilities include development and implementation of city ordinances and policies, supervision of departmental operations, planning, personnel management, budgeting, and finance. The City Manager also serves as the Zoning Administrator and acts as the City’s participant representative with county, state, federal and local municipal boards and agencies. The City of New Buffalo is a beachfront resort community and is the first stop in Michigan on the I94 corridor from Chicago. The full-time home to nearly 1800 residents, the summer population can swell to nearly 15,000 during the beautiful summer season. Being only 65 miles from downtown Chicago, the City hosts over a thousand boat slips, public beach, transient marina, boat launch, as well as numerous condominium complexes, cottages, and vacation rentals. New Buffalo is the core community of the “Harbor Country” region, comprised of 8 small towns known for delightful local festivals, farmer’s markets, unique farm-to-table restaurants, craft breweries, and wineries. The New Buffalo Area Schools are Blue Ribbon award winning which has made New Buffalo an attractive option for families.
