PRIORITY PROJECTS FOR THE CITY

On May 17, 2011 the City Council prioritized over one hundred City projects into the following Action Plan (as amended December 20, 2011 after completion of the Water Plant Expansion Project and adding the Sari Asher Memorial Park Drinking Fountain):

 1. Oselka Park: Phase 2 (Finish pavilion, band shell, playground, etc.)

 2. Encourage Completion of Village Square

 3. Safe Harbor Navigation (Sustainable EH Dredge Fund)

 4. Downtown Infrastructure & Streetscape Project (Bus. Imp. Dist.)

 5. Complete Streets Program (US Route 12 in 2012; S Whittaker in 2014)

 6. Dunewalk Repairs (Closed end of 2011; repair due by Memorial Day)

 7. Master Planning (Finish updating City Master Plan and Recreation Plan)

 8. City Riverfront Project (Erosion control, plus Bridge scour countermeasures)

 9. Marina/ Boat Launch Maintenance (pump-out, finger piers, repaving, etc.)

10. New City Beach House (Restrooms, Concessions, additional Beach parking)

11. Stormwater Quality/ Illicit Discharge Elimination Program

12. Lighthouse Creek Stormwater Management/ Floodwall at Water Plant

 

After this list was created, the City encountered a great opportunity to apply for a TIGER grant for a $70.8 million project, in cooperation with Amtrak and MDOT.
