August 25, 2012 — In a special meeting of the New Buffalo City Council held this morning, William J. "Rusty" Geisler was appointed as New Buffalo's new City Manager. Mr. Geisler is a lifelong resident of the City of New Buffalo, with over ten years of municipal experience serving on the New Buffalo City Council, with three years as mayor.
In Mr. Geisler's acceptance speech, he thanked the Council for the opportunity to continue to serve the City of New Buffalo in his new position. He stated that he looked forward to helping to bring organizational stability to the City. He also commented on the importance of infrastructure investment, and the need to keep the City within its budget.
As the City welcomes Mr. Geisler as city manager, we are also loosing his service as mayor and as a council member. Per the City Charter, Section 5.4, within sixty days the City Council will appoint a qualified elector to fulfill the remainder of Mr. Geisler's city council term, which ends in May 2014.
The New Buffalo City Council is requesting that City residents interested in being appointed to the City Council submit their letter of intent to the City Clerk, 224 W. Buffalo St., New Buffalo, MI 49117, or firstname.lastname@example.org. The position of mayor will be filled by the City Council from among their members.
